Delva Ann Cooksey, 85, of Anderson, wife to Robert Charles Cooksey, passed away December 7, 2021.
Born in Indianapolis, IN, she was the daughter of the late Delver and Isabelle Welling Carder. She received her bachelor and master's degree in Elementary Education from Ball State University and worked as an Elementary School Reading Specialist. She was a primary school teacher for many years, mainly teaching first grade. Mrs. Cooksey was a member of Wabash Presbyterian Church in Crawfordsville, IN. Delva enjoyed time with her family and her Grandsons. She had several hobbies and interests and could be found collecting interesting rocks on the shore of Lake Oswego or tracking down unique art glass. She was fascinated with all wild birds and as an amateur artist, worked to capture what she saw in watercolor. Delva loved plants and was a member of the Blue Ridge Orchid Society and recognized as a Master Gardener.
She is survived by her husband Robert Charles Cooksey; son, Charles Kenton Cooksey of Menomonee Falls, WI; daughter, D. Kay Cooksey, Anderson; sister, Sue Meggenhofen of Indianapolis, IN; sister-in-law, Ruth Cooksey of Indianapolis; grandsons, Kenton R. Cooksey and Colin C. Cooksey of Menomonee Falls, WI.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 10, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home.
Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Memory Gardens, Clemson.
