Don M. Garren, 82, of Liberty, SC, died on January 25, 2011, with his wife by his side in Woodbridge, VA.

Mr. Garren was born on June 21, 1928, in Greenville, SC. He graduated from Parker High School in 1945. He received a Textile Engineering degree from Clemson A&M College in 1950. He was a Golden Tiger and die-hard Clemson Tiger fan.

After college, he served his country as an US Army officer and National Guard volunteer. He was the Industrial Relations manager for Dan River Corporation for 37 years; first at the Woodside plant in Liberty and then in Greenville at Wunda Weve Carpets. He was involved in many organizations during his life to better his community and profession. He was a member and elder of Liberty Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Garren is survived by his wife of 58 years, Norma, of the home; four daughters Evelyn(also known as Lyn) Garren of Liberty, Abbie Garren Freeman and her husband, Steve, of Easley; Elizabeth Garren Cox (Dale) of Liberty, and Donna Garren of Woodbridge, VA; three grandchildren Daniel Cox, Sarah Freeman, and Logan Garren. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews including a very special nephew Bill Singleton and his wife, Margaret, and their children Maggie Singleton of Shelby, NC and Will (Christy) Singleton of Charlotte NC. He was the last member of his immediate family.

A memorial service will be held at Easley Presbyterian Church, 200 South 1st St., Easley SC on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 2:00 pm, where the family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church parlor. The family will be at the residence of Abbie Garren Freeman, 206 Four Lakes Dr., Easley, SC.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Don�??s name to a charity of your choice.
