Don W. Youatt, 93, of Greenville, loving husband of Judy Bender Youatt, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
Born on May 13, 1931, in Seattle, Washington, he was the son of the late Ralph and Diane Carmody Youatt.
Don’s academic journey led him to graduate from The University of Washington, where he was a member of Chi Phi Fraternity.
Don lived a rich and fulfilling life defined by his dedication to family, faith, and service. A proud veteran, Don served honorably in the United States Air Force for 22 years, earning the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He served many places including Berlin, Germany, Thule, Greenland (North Pole), and Vietnam. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who devoted himself not only to his family but also to his community. Above all, Don’s love for the Lord was the guiding force in his life, influencing all he did and inspiring others to walk in faith and love. After his Air Force retirement, his second career was with Miami Dade County. He served as Deacon and Elder at Old Cutler Presbyterian Church in Miami for 20 years. After his second retirement in 2000, Don and Judy moved to Jupiter, Florida where they were members of First Presbyterian Church, North Palm Beach. In 2018 they moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where they became members of First Presbyterian Church. Those who knew Don will forever cherish his kind-hearted nature and infectious smile.
In addition to his loving wife of 52 years, Don is survived by a son, Jon Youatt (Twila); and four grandchildren, Preston Youatt, Ryan Pack, Ranger Pack and Randy Pack.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 2:00 pm in the ballroom at the Cascades Verdae, 10 Fountainview Terrace, Greenville, SC.
