Donald Glenn Bates, 79, husband of the late Judy Carol Bice Bates passed away Friday, November 11, 2022.

Born in ­­­­Liberty, he was a son of the late Houston Bunk and Nettie Mae Holden Bates.

Mr. Bates was an HR manager at Mohawk Industries for many years, he was a member of the Pickens County Textile Association and was previously on the Textile Industry Board at Tri County Technical College. He was a hard worker and had a very strong work ethic. He also served in the National Guard. 

Mr. Bates enjoyed golfing and watching wrestling, but most of all he loved his family. He provided for his family, and set an example for his children, and his grandchildren. He loved to spend time with his family and his grandchildren and enjoyed going on family vacations with them. 

Surviving are his children; Jennifer Arblaster of Easley, Christopher Bates (Missi) of Easley and Mandy Stock (George) of Pickens; his pride and joy, his grandchildren, Michael Arblaster (Rebecca), Rachael Arblaster, Brandon Bates, Carson Bates, Sarah Arblaster and Andrew Bates; sister, Mary Kay of Easley; and brothers-in-law, Mark Bice (Tammy) and Jack Bice.  

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son-in-law Dan Arblaster; granddaughter, Rebecca Arblaster; and brother Richard Bates. 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, with entombment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends Monday, November 14, 2022, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
