Donald R. Geary - Greer, SC

Donald Raymond Geary, 89, of 1305 Boiling Springs Road, formerly of Ft. Pierce, FL, died Thursday, November 12, 2009 at National Healthcare of Greer.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA, he was a son of the late Raymond and Estelle Geary.  He was a 1939 graduate of Central Catholic High School in Pittsburgh, PA and was the owner of D.R. Geary Exxon.  Mr. Geary was a member of St. Lukes Catholic Church in Ft. Pierce, FL and the Knights of Columbus.  He loved playing cards and was an avid poker player.

Surviving are four sons, Donald Geary of Pittsburgh, PA, David Geary of Houston, TX, Richard Geary of Sarasota, FL, Fred Geary of Easley, SC; two daughters, Deneen Bell of Glenwood Springs, CO, Mary Ann Geary-Halchak of Hurleyville, NY; two brothers, George Geary of Houston, TX, Jack Geary of Pittsburgh, PA; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Virginia McCall Geary; a brother, Bill Geary; and four sisters, Nancy Mannella, Betty Dompka, Vivian Wyeth, and Vern Fink.

A memorial mass will be 10 AM Saturday at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Pickens, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ameican Heart Association, 353 Pelham Road, Greenville, SC 29615.
