DONALD R. LATORRE Pendleton
Donald Rutledge LaTorre, 70, husband of Sandra Holstein LaTorre, died Monday, January 12, 2009 at his residence. A native of Charleston, SC, he was the son of the late Edward R. and Thelma All LaTorre. He retired from Clemson University after 29 years as professor of mathematics. As part of his work, he was highly influential in bringing hand-held technology into mathematic classrooms across the country.
In addition to his wife he is survived by daughters, Jennifer Warren and husband Jeff of Suwanee, GA and Laura Chapman and husband Don of Alpharetta, GA; brother, Stanley LaTorre of Edisto Island, SC and grandchildren: Jacob Warren and Emily and Colin Chapman.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home at 3pm on Thursday. The family will receive friends from 2-3pm at the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
