Donald Carlos Powell, 86, of Easley, South Carolina passed away at his residence with his family by his side on Saturday, February 10, 2024.
Donald was born in Naples, Florida, the son of the late Dana Collier Powell and the late Mary Evelyn Cross Powell. He was also preceded in death by his wife Mary Judith Leigh Powell; also, two brothers, Larry Powell and Tommy Powell.
Donald was first and foremost a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He served his country with honor in the United States Coast Guard. He had a very successful career as a Diesel Mechanic and was a good provider for his family. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and boating at Lake Griffin where he had a home. He also enjoyed fishing for alligators. He will be remembered for his witty sense of humor and his funny jokes. To meet Donald was to love him. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish Donald’s many memories are his two daughters, Julia Simpson ( Rick) and Dana Suggs (Jimmy); his grandchildren, Jeffery Simpson (Annette), Michael Suggs (Ashley), Leigh Duncan ( Adam), and Amanda Maidhof ( Bobby); Great grandchildren, Avery Simpson, Emily Simpson, Madison Wise, Austin Wise, Isiah Suggs, Noah Suggs, Ember Maidhof, and Tessa Maidhof; one brother, David Powell ( Betty); and two sisters, Danny Dees and JoAnne Howell (Edward).
A graveside service to honor Donald’s life will be held at 2:00 PM, on Saturday, February 17, 2024, in Robinson Memorial Gardens – 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley, SC 29642.
Donald’s life touched so many people over the years and his memories will be cherished for years to come.
