Donald (Don) Eugene Quattlebaum, 83 of Pendleton, SC, husband of Opal Holder Quattlebaum died on December 8th, 2017.
Born in Chester, SC he was the son of Martha Garrison Quattlebaum and Edgar Ridgell Quattlebaum.
Don was a dairy farmer for more than 38 years, during which he also served as the national chairman of the Young Farmer's Association. After selling their family farm, Don owned the Esso Club in Clemson, and founded Just Barbecue, then later Just More Barbecue, where most of the family worked along his side. He was active in the Republican Party in Anderson County for many years.
He is predeceased by his brother Edwin Quattlebaum of Laurens, SC and his sister Martha Wright of Marshville, NC.
In additional to his wife, he is survived by his children Donna Fusco (Tony Fusco), Michael Quattlebaum (Paige Burton-Quattlebaum), David Quattlebaum (Alysen McCaughey) and his brother Richard Quattlebaum (Shelby Quattlebaum), seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
In honor of the care provided in his last days, the family requests that donations be made to the Hospice of the Upstate in lieu of flowers.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 11th at 11am at Calvary Baptist Church, 8008 Liberty Hwy, Liberty, SC 29657, followed by a memorial service at the church.
In the family's tradition of an open and loving home, guests are welcome to visit the family at their home in Pendleton Sunday afternoon or following the service on Monday.
