Donna Hayes Duncan, 71, of Liberty, South Carolina, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.
Born in Oconee County, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Lee and Ethel Mills Hayes. She leaves behind a legacy marked by love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community. A proud graduate of Wren High School, Donna pursued her passion for nursing at Tri-County Technical College, earning her associate's degree in nursing. Her career as a Registered Nurse culminated in her esteemed position as the Director of Nursing at Patewood Nursing Home, where she touched countless lives with her compassionate care. Donna was a beacon of light, a loving mother who raised her daughters as a single parent, balancing the demands of work and education with grace and strength. Her faith and family were the cornerstones of her life, and she nurtured a household filled with warmth and kindness. Always welcoming others into her home, she made it a sanctuary of love and support, embodying the essence of a servant's heart. A devoted grandmother and great-grandmother, Donna treasured the moments spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her involvement in the community extended to her cherished church, Pickens Church of God, where she was known for her spirited commitment. Donna's creativity shone as she crafted costumes for church plays. As a mentor to many, she impacted lives beyond measure, guiding others with wisdom and compassion.
She is survived by three daughters, Angela Pilgrim (Brent), Shannon Brown (Scott), and Tonya Arnold (Stevie); two brothers, Ronald Lee Hayes, and Samuel Michael Hayes (Vickie); nine grandchildren, Dillan Lovell, Jordan Duncan, Sierra Pilgrim, Blake Pilgrim, Breydan Pilgrim, Bethany Pilgrim, Brentley Pilgrim, Abaigeal Williamson, and Stephanie Comp; and ten great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Terry Hayes; and three sisters, Deborah Ann Carlisle, Sandra Beth Rochester, and Linda Joan Hunter.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Pickens Church of God. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road.
