Donna Penick Scott

Donna Gail Penick Scott, 67, of Piedmont, beloved wife of Walter Scott, went to meet her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 15, 2025. Born at Donaldson Air Force Base in SC to Master Sergeant Blaine Murphy Penick and the late JoAnn Bracken Penick. Donna was a Berea High School graduate and of Baptist faith.

Donna was a remarkable woman whose vibrant spirit touched everyone she encountered. She spent her life leading others to the Lord, a testament to her deep faith and unwavering commitment to helping those around her.

Donna was not only an accomplished businesswoman but also an integral part of the community as the owner of Phat (Pretty Hot & Tasty) Dogs in Powdersville, where she shared her love of food and companionship with her husband. Their partnership not only flourished in business but also served as a shining example of love and support.

Those who knew her will forever remember Donna for her passion for connecting with others. She could brighten any room with her infectious laugh and unyielding sense of humor, peppered with her signature sarcasm. An avid race fan, especially when it came to her beloved Dale Earnhardt, she brought joy and excitement into the lives of those around her. Her love for dogs was equally unmatched, as she took every opportunity to meet people in the community, often stopping to pet a furry companion and share a smile.

Having grown up in a military family, Donna lived in various places including Charleston and Savannah before making the upstate her home. This upbringing instilled in her a sense of resilience and an open heart that made everyone feel welcomed. She truly never met a stranger, warmly embracing everyone who crossed her path.

Donna's proudest accomplishments were centered around her family, whom she adored with all her heart. Her legacy will continue to live on in the cherished memories of those who loved her.

Along with her mother, Donna is preceded in death by brother, Richard Blaine Penick.

In addition to her husband of 22 years, she is survived by sons, Justin Cole Garner (Rubeth), Steven John Scott (Haley) and Bryan William Scott (Callie) and grandchildren, Haley “Bugs” Scott, Kelsea Scott, Landon Scott, Madison Scott and Andrew Scott.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 23, 2025, from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road. A graveside service will follow in Robinson Memorial Gardens.
