Donnie Traynham Abercrombie

Donnie Traynham Abercrombie, age 73, died surrounded by his loving family Friday, May 28, 2021. He was born in Greenville County, SC on February 18, 1948, the son of Raymond and Ludie (Traynham) Abercrombie.

After graduating from Erskine College, Donnie enjoyed a long and successful career in banking and finance. Donnie never met a stranger; he shared his jovial, kind, and humor-filled spirit with everyone. He loved nature, spending time with family, golfing and fishing with friends, and cheering on his beloved Clemson Tigers.

Donnie is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Ruth; son, Jason Abercrombie (Laura), daughter, Kimberly Whitman (Jay); 5 grandchildren, Mackenzie, Lundy and Louie Whitman, and Ella and Vivian Abercrombie; and 1 sister, Bobbie Jean Todd (Bob). He was preceded in death by siblings Morris Abercrombie (Sara), Sylvia Lawrence (Wilton), Larry Rudolph Abercrombie (Barbara), and Iris Faye Cothran (Lee).

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 2nd at the Chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, 108 Cross Creek Road in Central, SC. The family will receive friends starting at 1:00 PM Wednesday prior to the service. Scroll to the video player below to view the service.
