Doris (Dot) Cantrell
Easley
Doris Rogers Cantrell, wife of James Robert Cantrell and daughter of the late James Roy and Ruby Baldwin Rogers, went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, March 25, 2014 on her 85th birthday.
She formerly resided at 433 Bonita Drive in Easley, South Carolina. Mrs. Cantrell was born on March 25, 1929 in the Glenwood Mill Village of Easley, South Carolina. Doris (Dot) was a graduate of Easley High School in 1946 and Draughn's Business School. She worked at Potter-Shackelford Construction Company for 34 years, 23 as Comptroller. Since 1955, she was a devoted and dedicated member of Glenwood Baptist Church in Easley, South Carolina.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an expert cook, avid gardener, and devoted crossword player.
Surviving are her husband of 64 years, James (Jamie) Robert Cantrell and her two children, Dr. Robert Stephen Cantrell of Miami, Florida and Sharon Cantrell James (Michael) of Powdersville, South Carolina.
Also surviving are her four grandchildren, Robert Williams (Linda) of Greenwood, Michelle Stephens (Sam) of Dacusville, Angela Spearman (Brian) of Powdersville, and James Williams (Natalie) of Greenville; five great-grandchildren, Brian Smith Jr., Nathanael Spearman, Anna-Kaye Williams, James-Patrick Spearman, and Alexander Spearman; and many loved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Patsy Soards.
Funeral services will be 11:30 AM Friday, March 28, 2014 at Glenwood Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:15 AM Friday, prior to the service at the church.
The family especially wishes to thank Dr. Peter Maurides, Dr. Abbas Mansour, the Interim Healthcare Nursing Staff, Nancy Crenshaw, P.J. Fuller, and the nurses and doctors of Baptist Easley Hospital for their expert care and loving concern for Dot as her health declined.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Glenwood Baptist Church, 325 Saco Lowell Road, Easley, South Carolina 29640.
The family is gathered at the home of Angela and Brian Spearman, 2640 Powdersville Road, Easley, South Carolina 29642.
