Doris Edna Walters Holdeman, of Central, 87, passed away peacefully Tuesday December 17, 2019 from complications associated with dementia.
She was born in South Bend, Indiana April 5, 1932, into a family of 12 children. She was the last one of her family to pass away. She will join her family members, her husband, Robert Sr., and her daughter, Debbie. She leaves behind a daughter, Brenda Holcombe of Central, SC; a son, Robert, Jr., (wife Ginger) of Irmo, SC; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Doris and her family moved from South Bend in 1959 to Clemson, SC to get out of the cold weather and to relocate with her husband's employer, the Kendall Company. After her 3 children started school, she worked for a couple years at Harper's Five & Dime. Then for 20+ years at Lynch Drug Store in Clemson. She then worked at Clemson University in the Department of Bio-Engineering until her retirement.
Devoted to her family and church (Pleasant Hill Baptist in Central, SC), she will leave behind many wonderful memories that will bring a smile to the face of those who knew her.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, December 21st in the chapel of the Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, 108 Cross Creek Road, Central, SC.
The family will receive friends from 2-2:50 PM prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you spend time with your family relishing the fond memories that have been formed through the years.
