Doris Whitmire Nichols, of 15 Templewood Drive, died Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at Riverside Living Center in Piedmont.
Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Harold D. and Mary Freeman Whitmire. She was a 1947 graduate of Welcome High School and retired from Southern Bell Telephone where she worked as an operator and was a member of Welcome Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Gene Nichols and wife Karen of Piedmont; a sister, Mary Ruth Moore of Greenville; and two grandchildren, Nicole McGaha and Kristen Nichols.
Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon Friday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road with Reverend Doug Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland West Cemetery in Greenville.
Visitation will be prior to the service on Friday from 11:00 AM until 12:00 Noon at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Interim Hospice; 775 Spartan Blvd, Suite 101; Spartanburg, SC 29301.
The family is at the home of her son, 547 Tripp Road; Piedmont, SC 29673.
