Edna Doris Allen Brooks Roper, 80, formerly of Central, died Sunday, November 9, 2008 at Kershaw County Medical Center. She was twice widowed, her first husband, Lloyd Gailey Brooks, and her second, John Samuel Roper, Jr. She had recently moved to Camden, SC to be with her family.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late James Lowry and Alberta Wright Allen, she was a retired textile employee and a member of Refuge Baptist Church.

Surviving are one son, Michael R. Brooks (Debbie) of Tuscaloosa, AL; one daughter, Linda Brooks Josey (Jake), of Camden, SC; 3 step-daughters, Linda, Martha and Margaret; four grandchildren, Hank Josey, Jill Josey Sweat, Nicole Mathews and Parker Brooks; and three great-grandchildren, Riley and Carter Josey and Josey Sweat.

In addition to her parents and two husbands, she was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be 2 PM, Tuesday at Refuge Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Pace officiating. Burial will follow in Pendleton Second Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 PM, Tuesday at the church prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 1817 Gadsen Street, Columbia, SC 29201 or to the Alzheimers Association of Anderson, 4124 Clemson Blvd., Anderson, SC 29621.
