Dorothea Ann Drane Dowler, wife of Bill Dowler, died February 15 at her residence. Born May 16, 1935, in Columbia, MO, she was the daughter of Oren Glenn and Anna Semon Drane. She attended the University of Missouri receiving her BS degree in Home Economics. She represented her local 4-H club as an International Farm Youth Exchange student, spending six months in Denmark. She married Bill on January 26, 1958, and worked at several jobs supporting him as he completed his education. She overcame her fear of flying and enjoyed participating in many family vacations off the beaten path.
She is survived by her husband Bill; a son Paul (Keli) of Salt Lake City, UT; a son David (Sarah and grandson Jackson) of Portland, OR; a son Michael (Connie) of Los Gatos, CA; two brothers: Gene Drane of Columbia, MO; Wallace (Shirley) Drane of Columbia, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 1, at 2:00 pm at the Clemson United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clemson United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 590, Clemson, SC 29633; or to Pickens County Habitat for Humanity, P. O. Box 412, Clemson, SC 29633.
