Dorothy S. Anderson
- Easley, SC

Dorothy Smith "Dottie" Anderson, 85, of 18707 Regatta Road, Humble, TX, and a long-time resident of Easley, died June 20, 2007, at Vitas Hospice in Houston, TX.

Born in New Orleans, LA, she was a daughter of the late William J. and Mary Eloise Aikman Smith. Mrs. Anderson graduated from Behrman High School in Algiers, LA. She had one sister, the late Grace Wooderson of West Columbia, TX.

In 1940, she married Rev. David G. Anderson. They soon moved to South Carolina and served in churches around the state including George's Creek, Columbia, Williston, Union, Charleston Heights, North Charleston and Easley. Their wonderful marriage lasted for sixty-four years.

As a minister's wife, she spent those years assisting in all aspects of church ministry, teaching Sunday School every year to various age groups, working in the WMU, Vacation Bible School and being a true helpmate.

Dottie's life was about others, and she showed it in her unselfish actions each day. Her Christian example taught lessons to all she encountered in the church and community.

For over forty years, her life in Easley was one of dedication to the members of the First Baptist Church. Dottie taught the Philathea Sunday School Class for many years, a lovely group of ladies that were also dear friends.

As her vision and general health declined, she realized it was time to "let her light shine" somewhere else. She moved to Texas to live with her daughter and son-in-law and be near her grandson. Even in this transition to Texas, her ability to set examples and bring joy to her family and others continued.

She was a Christian lady who loved her church, her family, her friends, her computer, chocolates, and more recently, the Houston Astros Baseball team.

Dottie was predeceased by her husband in 2004. Survivors include a daughter, Sander A. Drummond, and son-in-law, Larry J. Drummond of Humble, TX; a son, Douglas K. Anderson of Sarasota, FL; a grandson, Michael J. Drummond of Humble TX; and a special friend, Robert P. Jardin of Sarasota, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 25, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of First Baptist Church, Easley, with Dr. John Adams and Dr. Lloyd Batson officiating. Burial will be private in Robinson Memorial Gardens.

Honorary escorts will be members of the Philathea and Fidelis Sunday School Classes of First Baptist Church, Easley.

The body is at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown and will be placed in the church at 12:30 p.m. Monday where the family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. in the narthex of the church, prior to the service.
