Dorothy Rampey Carman, 85, formerly of 301 Southway Street, died Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at the Hospice House of Anderson.

Born in Liberty, she was a daughter of the late James D. and Mary Adline Cantrell Rampey. She was a homemaker and was retired from the school district as a math aid. Mrs. Carman was a member of First Baptist Church of Easley for over 56 years where she was active in the pre-school department and a member of the Philathea Sunday School Class. She was involved with the Pickens County Literacy Association for 25 years, the Ladies Auxillary of the American Legion, and loved gardening.

Surviving are two daughters, Jane C. Stroud and husband Jerry of Simpsonville, Sandra C. League and husband Parker of Easley; a sister, Hazel R. Merrill of Greenville; three grandchildren, Jennifer L. Lane and husband Alan, June L. Hall and husband Jay, James Allen Stroud and wife Nicole; and four great-grandchildren, Carman "Alex" Lane, Patrick Lane, Elizabeth Hall, and Preston Hall. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, James Herman Carman, and three sisters, Alta R. Wood, Catherine R. Stephens, and Grace R. Carman.

Funeral services will be 11:30 AM Saturday at First Baptist Church of Easley with Reverend Dr. John Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Robinson Memorial Gardens; 1425 Powdersville Road.

Visitation will be 10:00 until 11:30 AM Saturday in the church Narthex, prior to the service.

The family is at the home of Parker and Sandra League; 102 Grigsby Avenue; Easley, SC 29640.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Children's Department; 300 E. First Avenue; Easley, SC 29640, the Pickens County Literacy Association; Attn: Patricia Todd - Treasurer; 705 Pelzer Hwy.; Easley, SC 29642; or to Hospice of the Upstate; 1835 Rogers Road; Anderson, SC 29621.
