Dorothy Dowling Cooper

Dorothy "Dot" Dowling Cooper, 86, widow of the late Thomas D. Cooper, passed away peacefully to her new home on Tuesday, July 27, 2021.
She was born in Darlington County, SC, on July 25, 1935 to the late Anna Laura Bush and Henry Grady Dowling, Sr.
Dorothy graduated from Anderson and Coker Colleges majoring in music. She taught piano and voice for many years. Dorothy received excellent reviews for her role as Amahl in the opera, "Amahl and the Night Visitors" and she also sang in the Billy Graham Crusade Choir.
Along with her husband, Dorothy was devoted to service for others and support of missions. Her testimony and Bible teaching inspired many to follow her chosen path of faith.
Dorothy is survived by her sons, Wilson M. Kittrell, Jr. (Debbie) of Broadway, NC and Grady Dowling Kittrell of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; and a brother, Henry G. Dowling, Jr. of Webster, NC; a niece; two nephews; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Along with her loving husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by infant twin daughters; and a nephew, Henry "Hank" G. Dowling, III.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 1, 2021 at Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum with entombment following the service.
