Dorothy H. Smith, 78, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 17, 2023. She was born in Brooklyn, NY October 13, 1944, the daughter of Joseph and Catherine Ahearn Sidwaski.

Dotty was raised in the Brooklyn, NY area, graduating from high school there. She moved to South Carolina in 1977 and began a career at Duke Energy in Seneca,SC.  She was an Administrative Assistant at Duke Energy, a position she held for thirty years. Dotty enjoyed reading, but she also loved listening to music, especially salsa, and opera. She liked all things theatrical; but more than that, she loved her family and time she spent with them.  After she retired, she volunteered at both Six Mile Elementary and Central Academy of the Arts assisting young students with improving their reading skills.

Dotty is survived by her son, Greg Smith of California; two grandsons, Luke Smith and Nerio “Anthony” Gomez and his wife, Danielle; two sisters, Catherine Nolan of Dallas, Texas and Terry Skrocki of Central, South Carolina; a nephew, Peter Skrocki and his wife Cathlene; two nieces, Ellen Poli and her husband Doug, and Janet Hendricks and her  husband, Benny; four great nieces, Lt. Taylor Philips and her husband, Chad, Emily Armstrong and her husband Chris, Cecelia Skrocki; and three great nephews, Stephen Skrocki and his wife, Denise, Jacob Hendricks and Ryan Hendricks.

Dotty was preceded in death by her parents.

A mass will be said at 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 24th at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 209 Sloan St., Clemson, SC. with reception to follow in parish hall.  Committal will be private for the family.
