Dorothy "Dot" Crane King, 83, of 703 East 2nd Avenue, wife of the late William Harry King, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Easley, Mrs. King was a daughter of the late William Carl and Sophia Nell Welborn Crane. She was a graduate of Easley High School and attended Furman University and Draughons Business College. Mrs. King was a homemaker and a member of Easley First Baptist Church where she belonged to the Frances Freeman Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Frances Eller Circle and a Third Grade Sunday School teacher for many years.
Mrs. King was a member of the Better Homes Club and the Nosegay Garden Club. She was a volunteer with Meals-On-Wheels and United Christian Ministries.
Surviving are four daughters, Sophie Clayton and her husband, Wren, Julia Norman and her husband, Jim, all of Spartanburg, Popie Whitted and husband, Tom, of Greenville, Nancy Tucker of Easley; one brother, William Carl "Bucky" Crane, Jr., of Easley; one sister, Carla Jean Tinsley, of Liberty; six grandchildren, Warren Clayton, Harry Clayton and his wife, Meg, Will Norman, Sims and Brooks Whitted, and Henry Tucker; and one great-grandchild, Sophie Crane Clayton. In addition to her husband, Mrs. King was predeceased by a sister, Evelyn Crane Scott.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. John Adams officiating.
The Frances Freeman Sunday School Class will serve as honorary escorts.
Visitation will be prior to the service on Saturday from 10:00 until 11:30 a.m. in the narthex of the church.
Graveside services will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the King Family Cemetery in Ninety-Six, South Carolina.

Dot's daughters express their love and appreciation to the caregivers, Melissa Brown, Arlene and David Woody; Dr. Brian McKinley and the ICU staff at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
