Dorothy Love Matthews, 87, wife of James Matthews, died Monday, January 16, 2012 at the Lila Doyle Nursing Home in Seneca. A native of Spartanburg she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Ola Ballenger Love. She was an avid gardener, cook and a reader of books. She was a member of Clemson United Methodist Church and loved to spend time with her grandhildren teaching them the art of cooking.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons: James E. Matthews, Jr. and wife Susan of Seneca, David Ray Matthews and wife Jennifer of Simsbury, CT and Robert Steven Matthews of Atlanta,GA; sister Eloise Nash of St. Petersburg, FL; granchildren: Dr. Susan Carey Matthews Nystrom of Grand Blanc, MI, Paige Matthews Wolfe of Atlanta, GA, Megan Elise Matthews of Summerville, SC and Spenser David Matthews of Simsbury, CT.
Memorial services will be held at Clemson United Methodist Church on Friday at 2pm. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clemson United Methodist Church, 300 Frontage Road, Clemson, SC 29631
