Dorothy Grogan Hagood McBee, 100, formerly of Pine Forest Drive, died Wednesday, October 24, 2007, at Homewood/The Arbors, 12 Boyce Ave., Greenville, S.C.

Born in Barnesville, Georgia on December 3, 1906, Mrs. McBee was the daughter of the late Rev. James Osgood and Elizabeth McLaughlin Grogan. She was a graduate of Brenau College in Gainesville, Georgia. Mrs. McBee was a member of Christ Episcopal Church. She was a member of The Assembly and was an avid golfer, who loved to play golf with her friends at Green Valley Country Club.

Surviving are her husband, Luther M. McBee III of Greenville; a daughter, Starke Hagood Bishop and her husband, Benjamin C. Bishop Jr., of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sons, Albert S. Hagood Jr. and his wife, Helen, of Greenville and Luther M. McBee IV and his wife, Terry, of Wadmalaw Island, S.C.; and a younger sister, Kathrine Grogan Cothran of Selma, Ala. Mrs. McBee is also survived by eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and her special family friend, Velma Griffin. Mrs. McBee was predeceased by four sisters and her first husband, 2nd Lt. Albert Starke "Bo" Hagood of Easley, S.C., who gave his life in World War II so others could live in freedom.

Private graveside services for family will be 3:00 P.M. Friday at Christ Episcopal Churchyard.

The family is at the home of Al and Helen Hagood, 517 Watts Avenue, Greenville, S.C. 29601, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 PM Friday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Episcopal Church, 10 N. Church Street, Greenville, S.C. 29601 or Alzheimers Association, S.C. Chapter, 301 University Ridge, Suite 5000, Greenville, S.C. 29601.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Arbors/Homewood, especially Dottie Pearson, for all the care and love they gave her.
