Dorothy Bright Whitmire, widow of Woodrow W. Bright and James R. Whitmire, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus Friday, September 27, 2019.
She was born in Pickens County April 24, 1928, a daughter of James W. and Bertha Whimpey Hendrix.
Aunt Dot, as she was lovingly known by many, suffered from macular degeneration. When her vision was still good, she enjoyed sewing and knitting. She loved singing the old hymns and she loved more than anything her Lord and Savior, with whom she can see clearly now.
Dot is survived by her son, Larry Bright of LaFrance; nieces that she raised in her home, Frances Rogers Ward of Anderson and Evelyn Rogers Rollins of Pendleton. In addition to her husbands, Dot was predeceased by brothers, Craig "Sarge" Hendrix, Paul "Dick" Hendrix, William E. Hendrix, Larry Bruce Hendrix, Charles "Shine" Hendrix; sisters Gladys Rogers, Alma Hendrix Hunnicutt and Edith Hendrix DiBendetti; and Charles Rogers a nephew raised in the home.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, September 30 at the Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, 108 Cross Creek Rd., Central. The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM prior to the service.
Interment will be at Memory Gardens in Clemson.
