Dorsie Candler Fowler, 103, of 216 Orr Road, wife, of seventy-two years, of the late Mack Arthur "M.A." Fowler, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2014 at her home.
Born in Buncombe County, NC, a daughter of the late George Newton and Sally Towe Candler, Mrs. Fowler retired from Southern Franklin Co. and was a Red Cross Volunteer at Greenville Memorial Hospital for twenty-five years.
She was a member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church where she served in the WMU, Margaret Mitchell Circle, Young At Heart, and a Sunday School teacher for many years.
Surviving are two sons, Gary G. Fowler of Piedmont and Keith Fowler (Chan) of Cullman, Alabama; a daughter, Nancy Fowler of the home; a sister, Allie Candler of Laurens; three grandchildren, Rev. Terry Fowler (Terri), Joe Fowler (Sandy) and Dana May (Danny); four great-grandchildren, Kevin May, Leslie Carpenter (Nathan), Timothy Fowler, and Kimberly Congreve (Matthew); and two great-great-grandchildren, Hunter Fountain and Kylie Carpenter. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Fowler was predeceased by a daughter, Edith Hope Fowler, a granddaughter, Donna Jones, a daughter-in-law, Elsie Moody Fowler, sisters, Mamie, Jennie, Almeta and Pearl; and brothers, Charlie, Julius, Lonnie, Cecil and Paul Candler.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 AM Wednesday at Mt. Airy Baptist Church with Dr. Keith Shorter and Rev. Terry Fowler officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 until 11:15 AM at the church, prior to the service.
