Douglas Addison Hawkins, Jr., 78, husband of Diana Quinn Hawkins, passed away June 7, 2017.
Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Douglas Addison Hawkins, Sr. and Naomi Massingale Hawkins. Doug graduated from Carolina High School in 1957, and was part of the first graduating class. He was a United States Navy veteran.
Doug retired from Mitsubishi in 1993. His working career spanned through companies such as Norfolk Southern Railway and Steven's Aviation.
His favorite hobby and past time was being a ham radio operator. He was known by his call sign "KK4K" and "KDOJ". He also loved music and motorcycles.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 34 years, are his daughter, Teresa Kelley and her husband Russell; two sons, Timothy Garland Hawkins; and Scott Hawkins, and his wife Diane; three sisters, Deborah Wingard; Sylvia Fulbright and her husband Paul; and Jennifer McHann and her husband John; a stepson, John Calle Bruner; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Hawkins.
In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by his son, Douglas Addison Hawkins, III; and a brother, Alvin Hawkins.
Memorial services will be held Friday, June 16, 2017 at 11:00am at Mt. Airy Baptist Church. The family will greet friends following the service.
