Doyle F. Elrod

Doyle F. Elrod, 91, formerly of 700 Gaines St. and widower of Eunice H. Elrod, died Saturday, March 1, 2008 at the Anderson Medical Center. A life-long resident of Central, he was the son of the late McSwain and Bertha Stephens Elrod. He was employed by Cannon Mills for 51 years and was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church where he was the church school sperintendent and church treasurer for many years. He was also a Mason for 60 years, serving as Worship Master and other offices and also as District Deputy Grand Master for the 16th district and he was a life member of the Clemson Eastern Star. He was a charter member of the Central Lion's Club. He enjoyed working in his flower garden.

He is survived by a sister: Maxine Spearman, a brother, Tony Elrod and sister-in-laws Flora Elrod and Sue Goodman. In addition to his wife he is predeceased by sisters: Lois James, Vivian Kelley, Eunice Green, Gladys Blanton and brothers, Dennis and J.W. Elrod.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, at 2pm in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home with burial to follow in Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-2pm prior to the service. Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to the Sterling House, 131 Vickery Drive, Central, SC 29630.
