Dr. David A. Cook

Easley, SC

Dr. David Albert Cook was born on March 23rd, 1950, in Lansing, Michigan. He passed away peacefully on April 26th, 2026, in Easley, SC.

In 1962, his family moved to Cochran, Georgia. There, he met the love of his life, Rosemary Mullis Cook, whom he lovingly called Rosie.

They participated in the Methodist Church youth group together before David attended and graduated from The Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. In 1972, they were married. Four years later, they relocated to Greenville, SC, where he did his residency at Greenville General Hospital, and they started their family. David Jr was born that year, and Katie arrived just a few years later in 1979.

In 1980, with his friends, Dr. Jim Rainey and Dr. John Warren, they moved to Easley, SC as pioneers to open the first OB/GYN practice in Pickens County. Over 21 years, their practice has cared for many mothers and delivered over 6300 happy, healthy babies.

David thrived when caring for others; he dedicated his life to it as his evident life’s purpose. Often, he would gently allow the reminder, “It’s never too late to start your day over again.” He spent his days loving simple joys like caring for his Azaleas and the companionship of his cocker spaniels. While celebrating life’s big moments, he was the one paying the DJ a little extra just to keep the party going. Joy was always tangible and abundant in his presence.

An avid hunter, he adventured around North America in pursuit of big game. Hands down, though, the brightest light of Dr. Cook’s life was always his family, children, and grandchildren, to whom he was, Deda.

They regularly attended Easley Presbyterian Church. Vacationing in Isle of Palms, SC, was a family favorite and created many cherished memories for them all.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Melton Cook and Josephine Fuller Cook, his wife, Rosemary Mullis Cook, and his daughter, Caroline Elizabeth Cook.

He is survived by his brother Jerry Cook (Carol) of Cartersville, GA, Janet Manning (Mark) of Bogart, GA, Son David Albert Cook Jr. (Mandy) of Easley, SC, and Daughter Katie Cook Porter (Keith) of Cramerton, NC, and his 5 grandchildren who were the light of his life-Madison, Ella, Kap, Xander, and Caroline Grace.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Robinson Funeral Home, 305 West Main St, Easley, SC 29640.
