In Loving Memory of Dr. Lewis Mayrant Jones
Dr. Lewis Jones, beloved husband, father, and (great) grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2026, at age 86. He entered the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, leaving a legacy of faith, kindness, humor, and love.
Born in Alcolu, SC, he was the firstborn son of the late Lewis Mayrant Jones, Jr., and Ellen Alderman Jones. He lived a life grounded in Christian values and guided by a deep trust in God.
Dr. Jones was a lover of baseball, football, golf, and playing all kinds of games with his children and grandchildren. He was a devoted Gamecock fan and played football during his time at the University of South Carolina. From there, he attended the Medical University of South Carolina and completed his residency while serving in the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed a long and impactful career as an Emergency Room physician at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood, S.C., and AnMed Hospital in Anderson, S.C. He was a child at heart and teasingly referred to himself as ‘the boy wonder’ whenever he won a competition of any kind. He will be fondly and lovingly remembered for his playful spirit and his commitment to serving others.
Surviving him, in addition to his wife of 41 years, Patricia Jones, are his children, Amy Jones Brown (Wil) of Chapin, Robyn Jones Boggs (Chris) of Morganton, NC, and Tony Rochester of Seneca; grandchildren, Hamilton Brown, Duncan Brown, Gracen Macemore, Marissa Porter, Trevor Rochester, and Luke Rochester; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Dr. Charles Jones (Lora) of Pawleys Island and Rex Jones (Linda) of Greenville; and a sister, Becky Truluck (Kelly) of Sumter.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 10:00 AM in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 595 Old Liberty Road, Easley, SC 29640.
The family respectfully asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Richard M. Campbell Memorial Fund, in memory of Dr. Lewis Jones, 4605 Belton Highway, Anderson, SC 29621.
