Reverend Dr. Lonnie Lee Owen, 88, of Kingsman Ln, husband of Mildred "Mickey" Calloway Owen, passed away Monday, July 28, 2014.

Born October 28, 1925 in Attalla, Alabama, he was a son of the late Lonnie and Mary Elizabeth Harrison Owen. Dr. Owen was a US Navy veteran serving during WWII and was also in the Alabama National Guard. He received his commercial pilot's rating, both fixed wing and helicopter to help facilitate his service on the mission field. Dr. Owen earned a BS from Moody Bible Institute, a Master's and Doctorate from Trinity College. Dr. Owen was a minister of the gospel, serving Spencer Memorial Baptist, Northgate Baptist, Central Baptist and Odessa Baptist Churches all in Florida. He was a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife of seventy years, he is survived by his daughters, Libby Young, Nancy DeLoach and husband Russell, and Tricia Ann Owen; brother, Talmadge Owen; grandchildren, Jason Johnson, Amy Rocha, Jeff DeLoach, Mark DeLoach, and Christie Forte; great-grandchildren, Jackson DeLoach, Mackenzie DeLoach, Evan Rocha, Joylyn Johnson and Noah Forte.

Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Brushy Creek Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 301 University Ridge, Greenville, SC 29601.
