Earlene Blackwell Townsend, 90, 205 of South Seventh Street, wife of the late Joe Major Townsend, died Thursday, January 17, 2008, at Easley Living Center.

Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Oscar H. and Lillian Gillard Blackwell, Mrs. Townsend retired from the Easley Plant of Woodside Mills and was a member of Easley Church of God.

Surviving are a son, James A. Townsend and wife, Laura, of Easley; a sister, Frances Clements of Simpsonville; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Townsend was predeceased by a daughter, Louise Smith and by a son, Bob Townsend.

Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Greenlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Dr. David Sustar officiating.

The body is at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown where the family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service.
