Mr. Julius Edward Childress, 82, of 234 Oakwood Dr., husband of Florence Hudson Childress, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2011 at AnMed Health. Today he is walking with his Lord and Savior.

Born November 13, 1928 in Pickens County, he was a son of the late Arthur and Maude Nix Childress. Mr. Childress was a US Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict. He was retired from Alice Manufacturing with 47 years of service and was a member of Enon Baptist Church.

In addition to his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, he is survived by his children, Derek Childress (Lesia) of Pickens and Tammy Roberson of Liberty; brother, Billy Childress; sister, Shelby Bagwell; grandchildren, Rocky, Shawn, Craig, Quentin and Jason; and great-grandchildren, Kase, Kallan and Caleb.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Milton Childress and Doris Childress.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 14, 2011 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with Rev. Scott Willis and Rev. Don Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park with military honors.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM at the funeral home, prior to the service.

The family is at the home.
