Edward Behling "Eddie" Messervy, Jr.Easley, SC


Mr. Edward Behling "Eddie" Messervy, Jr., 67, of 103 Northway Drive, Easley, loving husband of Patricia "Patti" Roper Messervy, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.


Eddie was born in Charleston, SC on July 23, 1948 to the late Edward B. Messervy, Sr. and Sarah Sims McGuffin. He graduated from West-Oak High School where he was the manager of the Warrior football team, and later became the "Voice of the Warriors", announcing the football games in the stadium. Upon his graduation, he moved to Greenville where he began a career of twelve years with Thomas McAfee Funeral Home before opening his own wallpaper company, Messervy Wallpaper. He loved to woodwork, make Christmas presents for his friends and family, and Shag.


Eddie was a loving, caring husband, father and grandfather. He was a devout Christian, and a very gentle, caring, family man who was truly "one in a million". He would go out of his way to help someone in need, and he had a personality that was truly unique. Eddie was a member of Easley First Baptist Church, and before his sickness, he was very active in the choir.


In addition to his loving wife, Eddie is survived by his four children; Edward B. "Ward" Messervy, III (Jennifer) of Simpsonville; Reid Messervy (Jennifer) of Simpsonville; Sean Faulkner (Brenda) of Easley; and Michelle Fowler of Easley; his two sisters; Sandra Messervy of Greenville and Amanda Holbrooks of Westminster; and numerous cousins and extended family. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren; his lovely aunt, Jeanette Winchester (Dan) of Pickens; and his four legged companion, Yogi Bear, his Carin Terrier.


Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, June 6, 2016 at Easley First Baptist Church, 300 E. 1st Ave., Easley, SC 29640. The family will receive friends at the Church prior to the service on Monday from 1:00 PM until 2:45 PM.


The family will be at their respective homes.


Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations may be made in Eddie's name to the Easley First Baptist Church Building Fund, 300 E. 1st Ave., Easley, SC 29640.
