Eddie Allen Richardson, 76, of Easley, SC, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 14, 2025, after a brief illness.
Born August 15, 1948, Eddie "Ed" Allen Richardson was known by many names: Uncle Ed, Brother Ed, Mr. R, Dr. R, Dad, Daddy, Hun, Papa, Grandpa, and Great-Grandpa.
In 1968, he married his high school sweetheart, Darlene. Over 56 years of marriage, their love grew into a legacy: four children, ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
After graduating from Pensacola Christian College, Ed dedicated his over-50-year career, which he regarded as his calling, to teaching both high school and college students. His love for history and government were evident in his lessons. He spent time at Maranatha Baptist Bible College in Wisconsin, where he encountered many memorable students, including one who would later become family! After leaving the college, he spent time in the roles of teacher and administrator at various Christian schools across the Midwest and Southeast. He especially loved working with eager-to-learn young people. Even in his final days, his heart remained at school: he was worried about missing class and frustrated that he couldn’t be with his students. Alongside his dedication to Christian education, he also had a deep commitment to his church community, where he served as a deacon.
Ed came to know the Lord at the age of 11 and remained steadfast in his faith throughout his life. Ed’s life and ministry were characterized by his love for the Lord, his family, and his students. His legacy will continue through the many lives he helped shape, both in and outside the classroom.
Ed is survived by his beloved wife, Darlene Richardson; children, Sarah Lawson, Hannah (Jason) Hill, Elizabeth (Andrew) Ramos, and Jesse (Anne) Richardson; grandchildren, Tiffany (Riley) Finney, Jonathan Lawson, A.J. Hill, Ethan Hill, Macy Hill, Indiana Hill, Beechel Richardson, Ella Ramos, Zane Richardson, and Levi Ramos; and great-grandchildren, Charlie Finney and Sophia Finney. He was preceded in death by his father, James, mother, Chris, brother, Randy, and granddaughter, Emma.
