Edgar "Eddie" Samuel Henderson, 94, loving husband of Wilma Henegar Henderson, passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Born in Spartanburg on February 19, 1927, a son of the late John E. Thomas and the late Bertha Holder Thomas, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who enjoyed golfing, yardwork, woodworking, and spending time with his family. He attended Spartanburg High School before serving his country in the US Army with the 82nd Airborne Division. He retired after fifty-one years in the cotton business and was past president of the Greenville Cotton Exchange. He was a member of Woodruff Road Presbyterian Church in Simpsonville.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of seventy-three years, are a daughter, Traci Gentry (Tim) of Easley; a brother, Dr. Claude Thomas (June) of Charleston; a sister, Dorothy Calvert (Roscoe) of Spartanburg; grandchildren, Shannon Thomas (Bryan), Laurie Register (Nick), Jamie Swierzbin (Craig), Timmy Gentry (Ashleigh), and Meredith Ward (Jack); and thirteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Dr. James Andrew Henderson; and sisters, Mary Lou Thomas and Carolyn Thomas.
Cryptside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Robinson Memorial Gardens Chapel of Reflection Mausoleum.
