Charles Edgar Smith

Charles Edgar Smith, 82, of 2021 Moorefield Memorial Highway, passed away on Friday, May 28, 2010 at his home.
Mr. Smith was a son of the late Enos M. and Ola Hunter Smith. He was a graduate of Pickens High School, retired after 40 years as a ranger with the SC Forestry Commission and was owner of Edgar Smith Builders. Mr. Smith had built over 30 churches in the upstate. He was an active member of Holly Springs Baptist Church for 65 years and had served as deacon and Sunday School Teacher.
Surviving are his wife, Ann Williams Smith; a son, Hub Smith and his wife Patsy; a daughter, Joan Summey and her husband John all of Sunset. Grandchildren; Chad and Hannah Smith, Sandee and Tommy Blankenship, Julie Summey and Johnny Summey. Great grandchildren; Hunter, Ashton and Shepard Smith and Charlee Grace Blankenship. Step-children; Terry Williams and his wife Emily of Pickens, Julie Trull and her husband Gary of Pickens and Susan Barkley and her husband Billy of Sunset. One brother Cecil Smith of Pickens, and two sisters Priscilla Chastain of Greenville and Rachel Bagwell of Pickens.
Mr. Smith's grandchildren will serve as pallbearers along with David and Pam Owen.
Escort of honor will be step-children, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchild.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his first wife Frances Gravely Smith and a sister Christine Stansell.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM Sunday May 30, at Holly Springs Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Gerald Martin and Rev. H. C. Couch.
Burial will be in the church cemetery conducted by Rev. David Hardin and Rev. Tommy Owen.
The body will be placed in the church at 2:30 PM Sunday.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 PM Saturday at Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown, Easley.
