Edgar B. Thomas, Jr.

The family of Edgar B. Thomas, Jr. is sharing the passing of our beloved father. Mr. Thomas was born in Altavista, VA on March 19, 1929. He was the son of Edgar B. Thomas, Sr. and Nell Jones Thomas. Mr. Thomas Served in the Army from 1946-1947. He retired from Southern Wesleyan University as Director of the Maintenance Department for 24 years. Mr. Thomas was a member of Trinity Wesleyan Church.

He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Mary Will Wood Thomas; two brothers, Clement Thomas and Lowell (Chink) Thomas; two sisters, Montaree Blair and Rachel Keatts; grandson, Isaac Thomas Garrett. Mr. Thomas was the oldest and last remaining sibling of his family.

Edgar is survived by his three daughters, Paula Crook (Frank) of Seneca, Pamela Glover (Steve) of Charleston, and Jodie Heusinger (Russell) of Liberty; son, John Thomas (Michelle) of Lexington. Mr. Thomas is also survived by seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Trinity Wesleyan Church, 700 Issaqueena Trail, Central, on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Mike McClung officiating. There will be no graveside service. It was Edgar’s wish to donate his body to the Body Donation Program and MUSC, where it has been accepted.
