Edith Christopher Bynum, 87, of 7525 White Horse Road, wife of the late Carl F. Bynum, Jr., went home to be with the Lord Monday, June 20, 2011, at Mountain Home Health & Rehab in Hendersonville, NC.

Born in Greenville County, a daughter of the late G. B. and Fronie Ferguson Christopher, Mrs. Bynum was a 1941 graduate of Easley High School. She was a homemaker and a charter member of Berea Friendship United Methodist Church where she belonged to the Ruth Bible Sunday School Class, the Morning Circle and the Berea Friendship Quilters. Mrs. Bynum served as a nurse with the US Navy during World War II.

Surviving are a son, Jerry B. Bynum (Joyce) of Clover; a daughter, Jean B. Vaughn (Gene) of Greenville; a daughter-in-law, Pauline E. Bynum of Marietta; three brothers, Joe R. Christopher (Barbara) of Pickens, Howard Christopher of Chicago and Tommy Christopher (JoAnn) of Easley; two sisters, Ann Nicholson (Joe)of Easley and Gennie Masters of Gaffney; eight grandchildren, ans six great-grandchildren.In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Bynum was predeceased by a son, Carl F. Bynum, III, and by three brothers and one sister.

A celebration of her life will be 2:00 PM Thursday at Berea Friendship United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

The body is at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown and will be placed in the church at 12:30 PM Thursday where the family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM, prior to the service.
