Edith Kennedy Leonard, 91, of Easley, wife of the late Oscar L. Leonard, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2010 after a period of declining health.

Mrs. Leonard was born April 3, 1919 in Anderson County, to the late William Newton Kennedy and Lula Hodge Kennedy. She lived at Connie Maxwell Children's Home in Greenwood for four years after the death of her mother and remembered with gratitude her years there.

After their marriage in 1938, the Leonards lived in Greenville, both working for Meador's Candy Company. In 1964 they bought the Auto Motor Court on Highway 123, Easley, and operated it until 1973. At that time Mrs. Leonard moved to Countryside Apartments and then to The Magnolias where she resided until her death.

Mrs. Leonard was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Greenville for 42 years and was currently a member of Easley First United Methodist Church. She will be remembered by all who knew her for her kindness and the joy she found in serving her Lord through serving others.

Mrs. Leonard was predeceased by a half-sister, Pauline H. Bowman, of Anderson. She is survived by one nephew, Norman Bowman and one niece, Linda Burdette, both of Anderson and by her beloved neighbors for 21 years, Harold and Nell Whitlock, of Easley.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown with the Reverend Jim Correll, Pastor at Easley First United Methodist Church officiating. Private burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Greenville.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Monday, prior to the service, at the funeral home.
