Easley
Edna Fortner Hunter, 92, formerly of 106 Nancy Drive and The Park at Countryside, died Saturday, April 25, 2009 at McCall Hospice House, Simpsonville.
Born in Pickens County, SC, she was a daughter of the late William Edd and Leila Chapman Fortner. She was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church, and a lifetime member of the Eastern Star where she was the treasurer of the Easley Chapter for 30 years. She was also the Past Worthy Matron of the Easley Chapter and served the South Carolina State Grand Chapter as Grand Marshal. She was a retired lunchroom supervisor of the School District of Pickens County.
Mrs. Hunter is survived by a brother, William L. (Dub) Fortner and his wife Beth of Easley; a sister, Frances Rogers of Easley; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Roy H. Hunter and a sister, Nell F. Hood.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home- Downtown. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service.
The family is at the home of the brother, W.L. (Dub) Fortner at 313 Grigsby Avenue, Easley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
A special "thank you" to Ann Owens, Mrs. Hunter's niece for her special caregiving over the years.
