Edna “Janice” Binns Porterfield passed away on September 4, 2024 at the age of 87 in Clemson, South Carolina. Janice was a caring wife, mother, and grandmother. Family was always very important to her.
She was born in Wheeling, West Virginia to her late parents, Willis Binns and Bertha Bundy Binns on July 12, 1937.
After going to business college, she met her late husband, William E “Bill” Porterfield through friends at the local roller skating rink. Together they not only enjoyed roller skating but also bowling and golfing.
Janice and Bill worked together for many years in their family grocery store in Flushing, Ohio until moving to Wahalla, South Carolina and then later to Clemson.
Janice loved nature, especially flowers and birds. She loved roses and spent lots of time working in her flowerbeds. She learned to love boating and fishing from her father. She also loved the time spent with family each year at Myrtle Beach which included beach activities and playing games. Janice was an active member in the Clemson Downs community.
Janice is survived by her two daughters Linda McFalls( Eric) of Greenville, Gail Latham ( Ray) of Westerville Ohio; grandchildren Kaylyn Guthrie(Doug), Dustin McFalls, William Latham, and Daniel Latham.
She is predeceased by her husband, parents, and a sister Irene Hudspeth.
A gathering to celebrate Janice’s life will be held at The Corley Center at Clemson Downs in Clemson SC on September 14, 2024 at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 123 W. Antrim Drive, Greenville, SC 29607.
