Edna Templeton McGrew

Edna Templeton McGrew was born on June 10, 1931, in Anderson, South Carolina. She left this earth for her heavenly home on September 4, 2022, at the age of 91. 

Edna was athletic in school, becoming the field hockey captain of her girls’ high school team. During high school she started working at the Cochran Jewelry Store, quickly learned the business, and became manager for 20 years. She was a beautiful person inside and out and even did some modeling during her younger years. Edna was always a caregiver, taking care of her mother until the end of her life. 

She married Dr. Joseph T. Templeton in 1968 and worked for many years side by side with him in his dental office until his retirement. They had one daughter, Elizabeth, and were so happy to have a child so late in life. She cared for Joe until his death in 1986. Several years after Joe’s passing, she remarried again to Harry McGrew of Myrtle Beach. 

Edna and Harry spent many years traveling the world together, volunteering with community organizations, and enjoying friends and family. She loved and cared for Harry until his death in 2003. 

She was a Christian and strong in her faith. She loved her church family at the First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach and attended every opportunity she could. 

The absolute joy of her life were her three grandchildren, Emma Grace, Alex and William. She was so proud of them and attended every concert, school event, sports event, and graduation that she could. She also traveled quite extensively on family trips and made many wonderful memories. She was young and vibrant for her age and kept up with her family on every adventure. She was affectionately known as “Gabby”. 
She was loved by many nieces, and nephews and had a large “step” family that she cared for very much. She never spoke a bad word about anyone and always had a positive, loving attitude. She will truly be missed. 
She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth, son-in-law Doug Peterson, and her three grandchildren. 
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date. The family is at the home of her daughter.
