Born in Recife, Brazil, he was the son of the late Antonio and Teresa Pereira.
Mr. Pereira was retired from the Merchant Marines.
Surviving is a daughter, Mary Hammond (Ken) of Greenville and grandchildren, Austin Blake Pereira and Sara Kelly Hurst.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
