Edward Jerome Cooley, 79, husband of Gaylene Sullivan Cooley passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Foothills Presbyterian Home in Easley.
Born in Greenville County, SC, he is the son of the late Vance Grady and Jessie Davenport Cooley. Mr. Cooley retired from Platt Saco Lowell Hollingsworth after 43 years. He was a US Air Force Veteran, and attended Easley First Wesleyan Church.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his brothers, Grady, Kenneth, Leon, and Ronald.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Gaylene, of 57 years, are his sons, Phillip Cooley (Mandy) and Keith Cooley (preceded by his wife Alesia) all of Easley; two sisters, Sylvene Massey (Horace) of Greenville, and Linda Oliver of Piedmont; one brother, James Cooley (Wanda) of Piedmont; four granddaughters, Ashley Brown (Dustin), Brittany Posey (Jake), Kristen Traber (Will), and Emily Cooley; great-grandchildren , Peyton, Preston, Brooklyn, and Axel.
Ed was a gentle soul who loved his family dearly. He will be missed greatly.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Thursday, January 28th at Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road, 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley, SC 29642 with Pastor Randy Clay and Pastor Lewis Edwards officiating. Entombment will follow in Robinson Memorial Gardens, Chapel of Reflection Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:45 PM Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home.
Family has requested donations be made directly to Easley First Wesleyan Church Building Fund, 104 W 6th Ave, Easley, SC 29640.
