Edward Hamilton Emanuel

Edward Hamilton Emanuel passed away on Tuesday, January 16th, 2024.  He was 48 years old.

Edward was born in Lancaster, SC on July 13, 1975 and two weeks later, he had his feet in the sand on the beach of Sullivan’s Island. His family moved to Clemson in 1981 and Edward immediately fell in love with all things orange and Clemson. However, for the last 25 years, Mount Pleasant was his home, close to the Carolina coast.

Edward graduated from D. W. Daniel High School in 1993 and followed in his maternal grandfather’s footsteps by attending The Citadel in Charleston, SC.  He was a member of Echo Company where he developed lasting friendships.  Edward’s love of soccer opened an opportunity for him to serve as the manager of the soccer team. Edward graduated with honors in 1997 with a degree in Business Administration.

Edward was extremely competitive and put 110% in all he did which made him an accomplished and well respected salesman.  He began his career selling advertising for the FOX News affiliates in Greenville, Columbia, and Charleston. He later worked for the NBC affiliate in Charleston and had a short stint with Staples before Herald Office Solutions recruited him to join their team.

Edward enjoyed spending time at the beach with his family.  He was a master at finding shark teeth and was always willing to share his treasure with his nieces or help them find their own. He loved all genres of music, but especially loved Carolina Beach Music; his favorite being General Norman Johnson and the Chairmen of the Board. Edward lived for Clemson football but every now and then would bet a dollar on NFL games!  Being healthy and fit in life was a top priority of his.  He was a prolific jogger, avid tennis player, and workout artist until an injury forced him to slow down.

Edward was a fan of hot and spicy foods, often having a competition of eating hot foods with his grandfather. He was known to carry his own bottle of hot sauce into restaurants. Edward was a devoted friend to many and was always ready for an adventure. Trips and gatherings with his friends were some of his fondest memories.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Julia Emanuel, Floyd W. Jennings Jr, Barbara Mengedoht Jennings Bell, and, Dr. Thomas J. Bell Jr.

Edward is survived by his mother and father, Gervais and Sonny Emanuel.  In addition, he is survived by his younger siblings, Amy Taylor (Chris) and Emil Emanuel (Natalie) and three precious nieces: Julia, Caroline, and Rose. He is also survived by a paternal grandfather, Emil H. Emanuel Sr., as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins who he loved dearly.
