Edward Sture Olson, Jr. , 70, of Easley passed away on Friday, November 15, 2013. Born in Spartanburg, SC in 1943, Ed was the son of the late Edward and Mary Lang Olson, of Clemson. Ed is survived by his wife, Linda Bowen Olson, his sister, Mary Lang Edwards (Tom), of Greenville, his brother, Chris Olson (Judy), of Cliffs Valley, four nieces and nephews and two special cousins, Joe Piatt (Candy), of Woodruff, and Harold Olson (Wanda), of Clemson.
Growing up in Clemson, Ed graduated from D.W. Daniel High School and attended Lees McRae College in Banner Elk, NC. While serving in the Navy, Ed was stationed on the USS Vancouver. Ed also attended Greenville Technical College and was an employee of the Greenville Water Works for many years until his retirement.
Ed was passionate about spending time in the out-of-doors. His gardening skills were impressive and his vegetable gardens thrived from his special touch. His favorite activity was fishing on lakes in the upstate and along the coasts of SC and Florida especially when he was with his cousin, Joe. One of his favorite places was Accomac, VA where he spent many years of his childhood visiting grandparents, fishing and playing with his cousins, brother and sister.
Ed was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church in Easley, where his life will be memorialized at 1:00 PM Monday, November 18, 2013, with Rev. Dr. David Gallamore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday from 11:30 AM until 12:45 PM at the church, prior to the service.
The family is at the home.
