Edwin L. Kilby

September 19, 1923 — February 8, 2008

Edwin Lewis Kilby, 84, of Downs Loop, Clemson, died Feb. 8, 2008 at Oconee Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late Edwin and Dorothy Kilby of Washington, D.C. He was employed by the US Government after service with the Coast Guard in World War II, and was officer for intelligence in Honolulu for the Pacific Command.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary Jervey Kilby of the home and five children: Anne Leigh Hawkes, Charleston, S.C.; Armistead C. Leigh (Margaret), Leesburg, VA; Richard C. Leigh (Shannon) Cornersville, TN; Mary Robin Leigh, Seffner, FL; and Karen Jervey Leigh, Plantation, FL. He is also survived by 10 grand-children: Ryan (Jean), Taylor (Heather), Aron and Morgan Leigh of Nashville, TN: Michelle and Jacqueline Leigh of Charlotte, NC; Bryan Leigh, Arlington, VA; Ian and Ellen Hawkes, Charleston, SC and John Russell, Valrico, FL. He is also survived by 7 great grand-children and three nephews: Thomas C. Kilby, Ashville, NC, Robert Bruce Kilby and Edwin L. Kilby III of Loxahatchee, FL.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 3:00PM at the Clemson Holy Trinity Episcopal Church with reception following in Moorman Hall. Burial services will take place at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church 193 Old Greenville Highway, Clemson, SC 29631, the Clemson University Brooks Center for the Performing Arts, the Clemson Golf Foundation, or a charity of ones choice.
