Eleanor Shingleton Jackson, 79, of 430 St. Paul Rd., wife of the late Rev. Aubrey Rudolph Jackson, passed away Monday, August 25, 2014 at Rainey Hospice House.
Born December 30, 1934 in Snow Hill, NC, she was a daughter of the late Tommy and Rosa Lee Best Shingleton. Early in her life, Mrs. Jackson was a researcher with DuPont where she met her husband of fifty-nine years. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Mrs. Jackson is survived by her children, Elaine Young (Rev. Russell G. Young), Pamela Apps (Michael), Keith Jackson and Kelvin Jackson; grandchildren, Amanda Young, Brooke Jackson and Haley Jackson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Melvin Aiken officiating. Burial will follow in Robinson Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM Saturday prior to the service at the church.
The family is at the home.
