Eleanor Gravley James, 77, wife of the late Paul Broadus James, passed away Monday, September 8, 2014 at Laurel Baye Healthcare of Greenville.
Born in March 21, 1937 in Transylvania County, NC, she was a daughter of late James Harrison Gravley and Annie Eleree Perry Bruce. Mrs. James was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church where she was a member of the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class and the choir.
She is survived by her daughters, Georgia Shelton (Gerald) and Dorothy Vebert, sons, Johnny May (DiAnn) and Max May (Kathy); step-son, Walter James; step-daughters, Margaret Brown and Marilyn Bruce; brother, Harold Gravley; sisters, Lida Belle Jones, Marie May, Martha Brown, Shirley Holcombe and Carol Cobb; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Lynn H. May; two brothers, William Gravley and James Gravley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, September 12, 2014 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial will follow in Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Travelers Rest.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
