ELEANOR L. LAWRENCE, Clemson
Eleanor Lepore Lawrence, 84, widow of W. A. "Jack" Lawrence, died Sunday, March 19, 2006 at Alterra Sterling House in Central. A native of New York City, she was a daughter of the late Matteo and Jennie Lepore.
She taught in the Aiken City School District from 1955-1979 and Oconee County from 1979 until she retired in 1986. She continued substitute teaching until the age of 80 years old. She was a member of NEA for 31 years, President of Aiken City Classroom Teacher Association for two years and a member of S.C. Council on Teachers Education for one year.
She graduated from Hunter College where she earned a B.A. degree and USC where she received her M.E. degree. She was a member and held many positions, including the choir for many years at Lawrence Chapel UMC. She was also a member of a Dolls Club and enjoyed playing golf.
Surviving are a daughter, Elaine Masceri and her husband Roy G. of Clemson; brother, Raymond Lepore of Bloomington, Ind. and a sister, Mary Elias, Lila Doyle in Seneca. She was predeceased by two sisters, Teresa Beatty and Dolly Madaula.
Memorial Services will be Sunday, March 26 at 3pm at Lawrence Chapel. The family will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall.
